City Kayak provides the rental equipment, facility, and knowledge about the area to make kayaking more convenient, satisfying and safer. We have kayaks that are stable and unsinkable.

We have kayaks that are designed to travel far and fast.

The wetsuits are comfortable and have the right temperature rating for kayaking in the San Francisco Bay.

Simply speaking, we make sure that you have a good time while kayaking!

Our single kayaks can carry up to 200 lbs.

Our double kayaks can carry up to 550 lbs.

Tour departs at 10 AM from the City Kayak office at 38 The Embarcadero San Francisco, CA 94107. Embarcadero and Townsend St.

Departure Time:

(7pm in Summer)

(You will have 2 hours to explore the bay.)

We may close early or open late.

Free parking space is available in the front lot (marked by standing kayaks).

City Kayak offers guided trips at selected hours. For the safety of everybody the guide will choose the distance, destination, and duration for the slowest paddler in the group. Free guides are generally available at:

What you need to bring

The weather in the San Francisco Bay is very unpredictable and most likely to get worse if you are not ready for it. Bring everything you can, then you can choose what to wear depending on the place you go and how far. Even on a hot summer day sudden fog that rolls in along with strong wind can be extremely wet and cold.

You should bring:

Sun block, hat, sunglasses with leash

Change of clothes

A towel

A bottle of water

Camera in a zip-lock bag

Anything else you always need (medical pills)

Additionally consider bringing:

Long sleeve shirts, long underpants, swim suit Warm fleece jacket or thin fleece sweater in winter Wetsuit (in case you prefer to use your own. Just remeber that you don't want the wetsuit to be tight around your shoulders).

Payment in advance by major credit card; Visa, American Express, Mastercard, or Discover Card.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher:

For every confirmed booking you will receive an e-mail with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher - when your booking is confirmed. Print voucher on your home/office computer. Please present this E-Ticket voucher at the Tour Office.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge for no shows.
